Walter Magaya was arrested and arraigned before the courts on allegations of raping a 25 year old woman last year in July.
POPULAR Prophet and founder of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) church Walter Magaya was on Sturday dragged to court charged with raping a 25 year old Midlands State University (MSU) student.
Magaya was arrested on Friday night and detained at Rhodesville police station. On Saturday he appeared before magistrate Vakai Chikwekwe who released him on US$2000 bail.
He was ordered to report to the police three times a week, surrender his passport and to continue residing at his Mt Pleasant home in Harare.
Represented by lawyers Everson Chatambudza and Oliver Marwa of Rubaya and Chatambudza legal practitioners, Magaya was told to return to court on September 15.
According to prosecutor, Gwinyai Shumba, the incident occurred in June last year when Magaya invited MSU student Petronella Donhodzo Mandaza to his Mt Pleasant property.
The Court heard that after arrival, Magaya showed the student around the house before leaving her in one room.
State alleges that the cleric later returned to the room naked and forced himself on the student, raping her once without using protection.
After the attach, Magaya is reported to have given the student US$200
